This Acceptable Use Policy explains the rules for using Chatroulette and our related services (collectively, the "Services") operated by CR Services AG ("we", "us", or "our"). It applies when you visit https://chatroulette.com, use our mobile application, or otherwise access the Services.
By using the Services, you agree to follow this Acceptable Use Policy and our Terms of Service: https://chatroulette.com/terms. If you do not agree, you must not use the Services.
The Services are intended only for users who are at least 18 years old.

1. Community Standards
Everywhere people come together, certain rules apply. The following standards summarize how we expect you to behave on the Services:
- Respect others. Be kind, polite, and respectful. Online interactions are real-life interactions too. Do not engage in bullying, sexism, racism, homophobia, or other hate-based behaviour.
- No inappropriate or suggestive content. Sexual content, especially in the Random Chat area, is strictly prohibited.
- No impersonation. Do not pretend to be another user or person.
- Do not misuse or overburden the platform. Avoid actions that disrupt the Services, create false accounts, or send unsolicited messages.
- Adults only. The Services are only for people who are 18 and older.
- No illegal activities. This includes severe drug abuse or any behaviour that violates applicable law.
- Follow security measures. Do not disable or interfere with security features or limitations of the Services.
- No spamming or advertising. Unauthorized data collection, spamming, or unwarranted advertising is not permitted.
- Report violations. If you see anything that breaches these rules, report it.
- No commercial misuse or reverse engineering. Do not use the Services for revenue-generating endeavours, and do not attempt to decipher, decompile, or disassemble our software.
2. Prohibited Uses Of The Services
You may not access or use the Services for any purpose other than that for which we make the Services available. The Services may not be used in connection with any commercial endeavours except those that are specifically endorsed or approved by us.
As a user of the Services, you agree not to:
- Systematically retrieve data or other content from the Services to create or compile, directly or indirectly, a collection, compilation, database, or directory without written permission from us.
- Trick, defraud, or mislead us and other users, especially in any attempt to learn sensitive account information such as user passwords.
- Circumvent, disable, or otherwise interfere with security-related features of the Services, including features that prevent or restrict the use or copying of any content or enforce limitations on the use of the Services and/or the content contained therein.
- Disparage, tarnish, or otherwise harm, in our opinion, us and/or the Services.
- Use any information obtained from the Services in order to harass, abuse, or harm another person.
- Make improper use of our support services or submit false reports of abuse or misconduct.
- Use the Services in a manner inconsistent with any applicable laws or regulations.
- Engage in unauthorised framing of or linking to the Services.
- Upload or transmit, or attempt to upload or to transmit, viruses, Trojan horses, or other material, including excessive use of capital letters and spamming, that interferes with any party's uninterrupted use and enjoyment of the Services or modifies, impairs, disrupts, alters, or interferes with the use, features, functions, operation, or maintenance of the Services.
- Engage in any automated use of the system, such as using scripts to send comments or messages, or using any data mining, robots, or similar data gathering and extraction tools.
- Delete the copyright or other proprietary rights notice from any content.
- Attempt to impersonate another user or person or use the username of another user.
- Upload or transmit, or attempt to upload or to transmit, any material that acts as a passive or active information collection or transmission mechanism, including without limitation, clear graphics interchange formats ("gifs"), 1x1 pixels, web bugs, cookies, or other similar devices sometimes referred to as "spyware" or "passive collection mechanisms" or "pcms".
- Interfere with, disrupt, or create an undue burden on the Services or the networks or services connected to the Services.
- Harass, annoy, intimidate, or threaten any of our employees or agents engaged in providing any portion of the Services to you.
- Attempt to bypass any measures of the Services designed to prevent or restrict access to the Services, or any portion of the Services.
- Copy or adapt the Services' software, including but not limited to Flash, PHP, HTML, JavaScript, or other code.
- Except as permitted by applicable law, decipher, decompile, disassemble, or reverse engineer any of the software comprising or in any way making up a part of the Services.
- Except as may be the result of standard search engine or Internet browser usage, use, launch, develop, or distribute any automated system, including without limitation, any spider, robot, cheat utility, scraper, or offline reader that accesses the Services, or use or launch any unauthorised script or other software.
- Use a buying agent or purchasing agent to make purchases on the Services.
- Make any unauthorised use of the Services, including collecting usernames and/or email addresses of users by electronic or other means for the purpose of sending unsolicited email, or creating user accounts by automated means or under false pretences.
- Use the Services as part of any effort to compete with us or otherwise use the Services and/or the content for any revenue-generating endeavour or commercial enterprise.
- Use the Services to advertise or offer to sell goods and services.
- Sell or otherwise transfer your profile.
- Engage in any behaviour that is deemed inappropriate or offensive.
3. Prohibited Content And Conduct
When you create, share, or transmit content through the Services, you must not post or share content that:
- Infringes the proprietary rights of any third party, including copyright, patent, trademark, trade secret, or moral rights.
- You do not have the rights, licences, consents, releases, or permissions to share.
- Uses the name or likeness of an identifiable person without their consent.
- Is false, inaccurate, or misleading.
- Is unsolicited or unauthorised advertising, promotional material, pyramid schemes, chain letters, spam, mass mailings, or other forms of solicitation.
- Is obscene, lewd, lascivious, filthy, violent, harassing, libellous, slanderous, or otherwise objectionable.
- Ridicules, mocks, disparages, intimidates, or abuses anyone.
- Is used to harass or threaten another person or promote violence against a specific person or class of people.
- Violates any applicable law, regulation, or rule.
- Violates the privacy or publicity rights of any third party.
- Violates any applicable law concerning child pornography, or otherwise intended to protect the health or well-being of minors.
- Includes offensive comments connected to race, national origin, gender, sexual preference, or physical handicap.
- Otherwise violates this Acceptable Use Policy, our Terms of Service, or any applicable law or regulation.
Any use of the Services in violation of this policy may result in termination or suspension of your access to the Services.
4. Enforcement
We reserve the right, but not the obligation, to monitor the Services for violations of this policy. We may, in our sole discretion:
- Remove or restrict access to content that violates this policy.
- Suspend or terminate your account.
- Report violations to law enforcement authorities.
- Take any other action we consider appropriate to protect the Services and our users.
5. Reporting Violations

6. Changes To This Policy
We may update this Acceptable Use Policy from time to time. The updated version will be indicated by an updated "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of the Services after any changes become effective constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
